Lab 27: Configure Connection Server backup and locate files

Objective and Tasks

You can backup the Connection Server AD LDS database. This can then be used if you experienced a pod wide issue.

In this lab, you will perform the following tasks:

  1. Login to the Horizon admin console
  2. Check and change the backup settings for a Connection Servers.

  1. Open the Horizon admin console for horizon-01a.
    • On your ControlCenter desktop, open the Google Chrome browser.
    • Click the bookmark on the bookmark bar for horizon-01a
    • This will connect you to the Horizon administrator console at https://horizon-01a.omnissatraining.com/admin
  2. Login to the Horizon admin console.
    • Username: administrator
    • Password : Pa$$w0rd
    • Domain: OmnissaTraining
Expand or collapse content Task 2: Check and change the backup settings for a Connection Servers

By default a Connection Server backups its local copy of the AD LDS database every 24 hours to a local file location.

  1. Navigate to the Connection Server settings.
    • Navigate to Settings > Servers
    • Select the Connection Servers tab.
  2. Edit the backup settings for a Connection Server.
    • Select the radio button for the row HORIZON-1A
    • Click EDIT.
    • Select the Backup tab.
  3. Change the backup frequency  for this Connection Server
    • Change Automatic Backup Frequency to Every 2 days.
  4. Change the Data Recovery Password.
    • Click on the Data Recovery Password button.
    • Enter a Password, and Retype Password.
    • This password is used to protect the backup and would be required if using the backup as part of a recovery.
  5. Close the backup settings.
    • Note the location where the backup files will be stored.
    • Review the other available settings.
    • Click OK.

You should repeat this process on each Connection Server.
