Lab 11: Restrict access to Horizon resources to newer versions of Horizon Client

Objective and Tasks

In this lab, you will learn how to restrict access to Horizon resources by enforcing minimum Horizon Client version requirements to enhance security and compatibility.

  1. Open the Horizon admin console.
  2. Configure client version restrictions.

  1. Open the Horizon admin console for horizon-01a.
    • On your ControlCenter desktop, open the Google Chrome browser.
    • Click the bookmark on the bookmark bar for Horizon-01a
    • This will connect you to the Horizon administrator console at https://horizon-01a.omnissatraining.com/admin
  2. Login to the Horizon admin console.
    • Username: administrator
    • Password: Pa$$w0rd
    • Domain: OmnissaTraining
Expand or collapse content Task 2: Configure client restrictions

Client restrictions are available for Horizon Client versions 4.5.0 or later, except Horizon Client for Chrome, which must be version 4.8.0 or later.

  1. Navigate to the Agent Restriction Settings.
    • From the left navigation menu, click on Settings > Global Settings
    • In the Global Settings panel, click on the Client Restriction Settings tab.
  1. Edit the Client Restriction Settings.
    • Click EDIT.

The example below configures settings for versions of the Horizon Client for Windows. You can also set values for other supported platforms.

  1. Update the Windows Client Restriction settings.
    • Enter 4.5 in the field to the right of Earlier Than.
    • Use the Client Update URL dropdown and select Default.

You can also specify a custom URL for clients to update from.

  1. Close the Client Restriction Settings.
    • Click OK.
