Lab 9: Install the Horizon Client for Windows

Objective and Tasks

In this lab, you will install Horizon Client for Windows on a Windows Client machine.

  1. Remote into the console of the Windows machine W11-client1.
  2. Install the Horizon Client for Windows.

Remote into the desktop of the Windows client W11-client1, using RDP, so that you can run the installer.

  1. Use RDP to connect to W11-client1
    • On your ControlCenter desktop open the RDP folder.
    • Click the RDP shortcut to W11-client1
    • This will automatically log you into the W11-client1 VM

If you do get get automatically logged into, use the credentials:

  • Username: OMNISSATRAINING\Administrator
  • Password: Pa$$w0rd
Expand or collapse content Task 2: Install the Horizon Client for Windows
  1. Run the Horizon Client for Windows installer executable on W11-client1
    • Use Start > File Explorer
    • Browse to S:\Software\Horizon_Client_2512
    • Run Omnissa-Horizon-Client-2512-8.17.0-20184583317.exe
  2. Select the installation type.
    • Click on Customize Installation.

Selecting Agree & Install installs the Horizon Client for Windows with the default options.

Selecting Customize Installation allows you to choose optional features and define a default Connection Server. You will choose Customize Installation in this lab to allow you to see the available options.

  1. Start the installation.
    • Review the available settings.
    • Click on Agree & Install.
  2. Monitor the installation process.
    • Once it completes, a Success dialog will be displayed.
    • Click on Finish.
  3. Restart W11-client1.
    • A dialog will display with the message "You must restart your system for the configuration changes made to Omnissa Horizon Client to take effect"
    • Click Restart Now.

This concludes this lab.
