Using Help Desk in Horizon Cloud

Objective and Tasks

Use the help desk features in Horizon Cloud Service on Microsoft Azure:

  1. Establish a Single-Session Connection for Help Desk User Testing
  2. Search for a User with an Active Single-Session Connection
Task 1: Establish a Single-Session Connection for Help Desk User Testing

You establish a single-session connection for Help Desk user testing.

  1. Access Horizon Client.
    • Double-click the cloud.omnissahorizon.com icon.
    • Omnissa Horizon SSO page open on your default browser.
  1. On the Sign in with SSO page.
    • Enter amerhcsmadm<student_number> in the text box.
    • Click Continue.
    • Workspace ONE Intelligence Hub page opens.
    • From the Select Your Domain drop-down menu, select techseals.co.
    • Click NEXT.
  1. Log in with the user account that you entitled to desktops and applications.
    • User name: hcsmadm<student_number>  
    • Password: Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
    • You are redirected back to Horizon Client.
  1. Access the Desktop.
    • To access a desktop, double-click the Floating Windows 11 Pool icon.
  1. After the desktop becomes available.
    • Double-click the Chrome shortcut and go to YouTube.
    • In YouTube, enter Cat Videos for Cats to Watch in the Search box.
    • Click a long video (8 to 12 hours) and let the video play.
      • The video generates FPS traffic.
  1. Run CPU Busy.
    • Right-click the Windows Start menu icon and select Run.
    • Enter \\10.2.1.4\Software in the Open box.
    • Right-click cpubusy.vbs and copy it to the desktop.
    • On the Windows desktop, right-click cpubusy.vbs and select Show More Options.
    • Select Open with Command Prompt.
      • On the Security Warning, select Open.
      • This action generates CPU activity.
  1. Review the graphs to see the estimated bandwidth, usage, and frames per second.
    • On the desktop double-click VMware Horizon Performance Tracker.
    • Review the graphs to see the estimated bandwidth, usage, and frames per second.
    • Click the Details icon.
    • Review the information on the At a Glance tab.  
Task 2: Search for a User with an Active Single-Session Connection

You can manage user connections.

  1. Go to https://connect.omnissa.com and log in to the Omnissa Cloud Services console.
    • User name: horizonseals<student_number>@techseals.co
    • Password: Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
    • Under Horizon Cloud, click LAUNCH.
  1. To find an active session.
    • Enter hcsmadm<student_number> in the search box and select the end user.
    • On the Sessions tab, click FLT-<student_number><xxx>.
      • The session should have a status of CONNECTED.
    • Review the information on the Summary page.
  1. Return to the Omnissa Cloud Services console and log in again if necessary.
    • User name: horizonseals<student_number>@techseals.co
    • Password: Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
    • Under Intelligence, click LAUNCH.
  1. In the navigation pane on the left, select Virtual Apps & Desktops > Horizon Cloud Next-Gen.
    • Click Get Started.
    • Click CONFIRM.
  1. Review the information under Workspace.
    • Click Total Session.
  1. Find the active session of hcsmadm<student_number>.
    • Review the information
  1. In the navigation pane on the left, select Virtual Apps & Desktops > Horizon Operations Overview.
    • Review the complete Horizon operation information.
  1. Return to Horizon Cloud.
    • To find an active session, enter hcsmadm<student_number> in the search box and select the end user.
    • On the Sessions tab, click FLT-<student_number><xxx>.
      • Note: The session should have a status of CONNECTED.
  1. On the FLT-<student_number><xxx> session.
    • Click Log Off.
    • On the Logoff User pop-up window, click Log Off.
    • Click REFRESH to refresh the Session page, session should disappear.
