Lab 1 Verifying the Microsoft AzureSetup

Objective and Tasks

Verify that the initial setup of the Microsoft Azure subscription aligns with the prerequisites:

1. Create an Email Address

2. Review the Requirements

3. Log In to Microsoft Azure

4. Record the Tenant Information

5. Review and Record Application Registration Data

6. Review the Resource Providers

Task 1: Create an Email Address
  1. Open a web browser
    • Go to www.outlook.com in the address bar.  
    • Click Create free account.

 

  1. Enter <company>.<full_name>.<student_number> in the New email text box.
    • Click Next ,
    • In Password text type,  Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
    • Click Next
  1. Complete the verification
    • Configure your new email account by adding the required details.
    • When finished, give the instructor your email address for the azure subscription invite
  1. You receive an email invitation after the instructor entitles you for Microsoft Azure.
    • Open the email invitation.
    • Click Accept Invitation
    • Once the page open in a new tab, close the page
  1. On your browser go to
    • portal.azure.com
    • User name:
      • <company>.<full_name>.<student_number>@outlook.com
    • Password:
      • Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
    • Click on Hamburger icon in the azure portal
    • Go to Cost Management + Billing
  1. In the Cost Management + Billing
    • Go to Cost Management
  1. In Cost Management page
    • Verify the Geo location based azure subscription shows.
      • Note: In this example, we are using AMER Eduction.
      • In your case it could be EMEA Education or APJ Education
Task 2: Record the Tenant Information

You record the Active Directory information. The information that you record is required for future tasks.

  1. Review and Record Application Registration Data
    • If necessary, log in to Microsoft Azure
    • Go to portal.azure.com on your browser
    • Username: <company>.<full_name>.<student_number>
    • Password: Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
    • To expand the left navigation pane, click the hamburger icon on the menu bar.
    • In the left navigation pane, select Microsoft Entra ID.
    • The VMware, Inc. | Overview page opens.
  1. In Microsoft Entra ID page
    • In the left navigation pane, select App registrations.
    • Verify that you are on the Owned Applications tab.
    • Verify that <geo>-hcsmadm-appreg appears.
    • On your student data worksheet, record the application (client) ID.

IMPORTANT

The <geo> value is either AMER, EMEA, or APJ. If more than one <geo>-hcsmadm-appreg line appears, ask the instructor for guidance.

Because of changes in the Azure environment, the information might not be visible. All information that is necessary for the completion of the labs is in the student data worksheet.

  1. Expand the left navigation pane by clicking the hamburger icon on the menu bar
    • Select Cost Management + Billing
    • Select Cost Management
    • Click on Go to subscription
  1. In the Subscription Page
    • Click Access control (IAM)
    • Click the Role assignments tab.
    • Enter your email ID or username of your outlook account.
    • Check the role is set as contributor
  1. In the Subscription Page
    • Navigate to
      • Settings > Resource providers
      • Verify that the correct resource providers are registered by typing in the search.
        • Microsoft.Authorization
        • Microsoft.Compute
        • Microsoft.ContainerService
        • Microsoft.KeyVault
        • Microsoft.MarketplaceOrdering
        • Microsoft.ResourceGraph
        • Microsoft.Network
        • Microsoft.Insights
        • Microsoft.Resources
        • Microsoft.Security
        • Microsoft.Storage
