User Profile Management with Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager in Horizon Cloud
Objective and Tasks
Use Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager to customize the user experience in Horizon Cloud:
- Edit a Single-Session Pool to Use with Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager
- Edit a Multi-Session Pool to Use with Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager
- Use Horizon Client to Connect to the Pool
You configure the path information and then edit the single-session pool to use Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager in the environment.

- Go to https://connect.omnissa.com and log in to the Omnissa Cloud Services console.
- User name: horizonseals<student_number>@techseals.co
- Password: Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
- Launch Horizon Cloud.
- Navigate to Dynamic Environment Manager.
- From the left navigation pane of Horizon Console, select Settings.
- Under Dynamic Environment Manager, click MANAGE.
- Configure Dynamic Environment Manager.
- Under Dynamic Environment Manager page, click ADD.
- Add Dynamic Environment Manager configuration page appears.
- Enter DEM-Techseals in the Name text box.
- Enter \\DEM-Manager.techseals.co\DEMConfig\general in the Configuration share path text box.
- Click SAVE.

- Navigate to Floating Desktop Pool.
- From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Pools.
- Select Floating-<student_number>.
- Click EDIT.

- Enable Dynamic Environment Manager on Edit pool page.
- Under Desktop, leave the other options unchanged and click NEXT.
- Under Network, leave the other options unchanged and click NEXT.
- Under Dynamic Environment Manager, select DEM-Techseals from the drop-down menu.
- Click SAVE.

- Entitle a DEM user to the desktop pool.
- From the navigation pane on the left, select Desktop & App Catalog.
- On the Desktops tab, select the Floating Win11 Pool check box.
- From the ENTITLEMENT drop-down menu, select ENTITLE.

- Entitle Desktops page opens.
- Enter DEMUser<student_number> in the Add users search box and select the user from the list.
- Click SAVE.
You configure the path information and then edit the multisession pool group to use VMware Dynamic Environment in the environment.

- If required go to https://connect.omnissa.com and log in to the Omnissa Cloud Services console.
- User name: horizonseals<student_number>@techseals.co
- Password: Omnissa1Omnissa1
- Under Horizon Cloud, click LAUNCH.

- Navigate to Multi-session Desktop Pool.
- From the left navigation pane, select Resources > Pools.
- Select W22-MS-<student_number>-Pool .
- Click EDIT.

- Enable Dynamic Environment Manager on Edit pool page.
- Under Desktop, leave the other options unchanged and click NEXT.
- Under Network, leave the other options unchanged and click NEXT.
- Under Dynamic Environment Manager, select DEM-Techseals from the drop-down menu.
- Click SAVE.

- Entitle a DEM user to the desktop pool.
- From the navigation pane on the left, select Desktop & App Catalog.
- On the Desktops tab, select the MS Win2022 Pool check box.
- From the ENTITLEMENT drop-down menu, select ENTITLE.
- Entitle Desktops page opens.

- Enter DEMUser<student_number> in the Add users search box and select the user from the list.
- Click SAVE.
You test the connectivity to the single-session pool using Horizon Client. You connect to both a desktop session and an application session.

- Access Horizon Client.
- Double-click the cloud.omnissahorizon.com icon.
- Omnissa Horizon SSO page open on your default browser.

- On the Sign in with SSO page using browser .
- Enter amerhcsmadm<student_number> in the text box.
- Click Continue.
- Workspace ONE Intelligence Hub page opens.
- From the Select Your Domain drop-down menu, select techseals.co.
- Click NEXT.

- Log in with the user account that you entitled to desktops and applications.
- User name: DEMuser<student_number>
- Password: Omnissa1!Omnissa1!
- You are redirected back to Horizon Client.

- Access the Desktop.
- To access a desktop, double-click the Floating Windows 11 Pool icon.
- If required, allow pop-up windows.
- If prompted, allow the unsecured connection.
- This allowance is required because the class uses a self-signed certificate.
- If a pop-up window appears prompting you to manage displays, click Allow.
- To access a desktop, double-click the Floating Windows 11 Pool icon.

- You will notice all the shortcuts redirected from DEM
- Open Windows Explorer inside the Virtual Desktop

- In File Explorer, notice the Drive mapped as Class Materials (V:)

- To Test it further, create a folder inside the Virtual Dekstop
- In the example DEMUser15 is created
- Upon logoff and login to a different VDI with DEM Enabled, the folder exists.
- DEM makes the user data persistent across the VDIs

- Upon a similar test
- Non DEM user which is HCSMADM, data upon logoff and login will not be persistent.
