Lab 13: Monitoring Endpoints

Objective and Tasks

Review and monitor endpoints:

  1. Review Endpoint Settings
  2. Access the Workspace ONE UEM Monitor

Task 1: Review Endpoint Settings

You review the configured endpoint settings.

  1. Log in to the ControlCenter desktop VM.
    • User name: administrator
    • Password: Pa$$w0rd
  2. Open Chrome and log in to the Workspace ONE UEM console.
    • User name: studentadmin{labid}
    • Password: Pa$$w0rd
  3. On the Workspace ONE UEM console menu bar, verify that Student{labid} is selected from the Organization Group drop-down menu.
  4. In the navigation pane on the left, select Devices > Dashboard.
    • Metrics for all devices enrolled at the selected organization group (OG) and below are included.
  5. Review the available device details sections, such as Security, Ownership, Last Seen, Platforms, and Enrollment.
  6. In the navigation pane, select Devices > List View and review the available actions.
  7. To adjust which devices are shown, click Filters.
  8. To set up a pending device record for enrollment, click Add Device.
    • After reviewing the Add Device dialog box, you can click Cancel and then click OK to return to the Device List View without making changes.
  9. To change the view, click the Layout drop-down menu.
    • Additional settings include manual refresh, the Export drop-down menu, and the Search List search box.
  10. To view bulk management settings, select the check box to the left of a device row. To perform these actions on multiple devices at the same time, select multiple check boxes.
  11. To force the devices to check in, click Query.
  12. To send a message, click Send.
  13. To lock the devices, click Lock.
  14. To show more management settings, click More Actions.
  15. To the right of the friendly name, point to the Folder icon. Additional device details appear, most importantly the Group ID.
  16. Under General Info, click the friendly name hyperlink of the device to open the Details View.
    • The device name that appears under General Info is called the friendly name.
  17. Select each tab and review the respective device details.
  18. Click the More drop-down menu to review additional tabs.
  19. Review the device commands that are available in the top-right corner of the Device Details View page.
  20. Click More Action drop-down menu and review the available controls.
    • Enterprise Wipe and Device Wipe: Enterprise wipe (business data wipe) or device wipe (factory reset) the device.
CAUTION
The device wipe command performs a factory reset of a selected device or devices. Data loss occurs if a device wipe command is sent to a device. Do not select this feature unless you know that a device must be factory reset. Use cases for the device wipe feature include stolen company devices, company devices returned to IT after employees leave the company, transitioning a device in inventory to a new employee, and so on.
  • Change Organization Group: Change the OG to a different OG within your hierarchy.
  • Manage Tags: Enable advanced filters within searches.

Task 2: Access the Workspace ONE UEM Monitor

  1. On the Workspace ONE UEM console menu bar, verify that Student{labid} is selected from the Organization Group drop-down menu.
  2. In the navigation pane on the left, select Monitor > Overview.
  3. In the upper-right corner of the page, click the layout icon to switch between Tabular View or Chart View.
  4. Scroll down the page and review the telemetry data for Devices, Compliance, Profiles, Apps, Content, Email, and Certificates.
NOTE
Each item is hyperlinked to respective devices, which are linked to a filtered Devices List View.
