Lab 2: Workspace ONE UEM console and Hub Services

Objective and Tasks

Task 1: Navigate the Workspace ONE UEM Console

You navigate the Workspace ONE UEM console to become familiar with the available options.

  1. Open the Workspace ONE UEM administration console.
    1. On the ControlCenter Windows taskbar, click the Google Chrome icon.
    2. From the bookmarks bar select Workspace ONE UEM.

You can also enter http://omnissatraining.com/Airwatch in the address bar to access the console page.

  1. Log in to Workspace ONE UEM.
    • User name: studentadmin<labid>
    • Password: Pa$$w0rd
  2. In the navigation pane on the bottom left, click About to view the version of Workspace ONE UEM.
  3. Click x to close About Workspace ONE UEM console pop-up window.
  4. In the upper-right corner of the console, click the drop-down menu with your administrator name and select Manage Account Settings.

The Account Settings dialog box appears. You use the Account Settings dialog box to configure account details, set notifications, view login history, and change security settings.

  1. To exit the Account Settings dialog box, click Cancel.

Task 2: Review the Workspace ONE UEM Monitor Page

You review critical management information so that you can quickly identify problems and resolve them from a single location in the console.

  1. In the navigation pane at the top, select Monitor. Then, in the navigation on the left, select Monitoring Dashboard.
  2. To change the default view from Chart View to Tabular View, click the bulleted-list icon in the top right of the page.
  3. To change from the Tabular View back to the Chart View, click the pie-chart icon, in the top right of the page.
  4. Scroll down and review the information gathered for Devices, Compliance, Profiles, Apps, Content, Email, and Certificates.  

Note: It will be empty because we have not yet created anything.

Task 3: Review the Core System Settings

You review the core system settings in the Workspace ONE UEM console.

  1. In the navigation pane at the top, select Groups & Settings. Then, in the navigation on the left, select All Settings. Expand System.
  2. Review the core system settings in the System submenu.
  3. Select Getting Started.

You use the Getting Started page to define what sections are available in the Getting Started wizard.

  1. Select Enterprise Integration.

The Enterprise Integration page facilitates Workspace ONE UEM integration with existing enterprise infrastructures, such as Certificate Authorities, Directory Services, Email (SMTP), and others.

  1. Expand Security and then select Restricted Actions 

These are actions, that when enabled, will prompt the administrator to enter their 4-digit Security Pin, before the action can occur.  You can also set whether notes are required for auditing purposes.

  1. Click x in the upper-right corner to close the Settings dialog box.

Task 4: Customize Workspace ONE UEM Console Branding

You configure settings related to the branding of the Workspace ONE UEM console. You can change the branding to reflect company colors.

  1. In the navigation pane at the top, select Groups & Settings. Then, in the navigation on the left, select All Settings. Expand System, and click Branding.
    • Current Setting is set to Inherit.
    • Child Permission is set to Inherit or Override.

As a Workspace ONE UEM administrator, you can configure which items other administrators can access and whether they can change color values.

  1. Next to Current Setting, click Override.
  2. Modify the colors assigned to the interface.

All Workspace ONE UEM websites are branded with color assignments, including the Workspace ONE UEM console and the Workspace ONE UEM Self-Service Portal (SSP).

Selecting contrasting values for the text and background colors is a best practice, as the text can become difficult to read if you select similar colors for both.

The Custom CSS page can be used to insert a cascading style sheet (CSS) of your own custom design that overrides the console defaults.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Click x in the upper-right corner to close the Settings dialog box.

Task 5: Configure Hub Serivices

You configure Hub Services in your Workspace ONE UEM tenant.

  1. Open the Workspace ONE UEM administration console.

    1. On the ControlCenter Windows taskbar, click the Google Chrome icon.

    2. From the bookmarks bar, select Workspace ONE UEM.

You can also enter http://omnissatraining.com/Airwatch in the address bar to access the console page.

  1. Log in to Workspace ONE UEM.

    • User name: studentadmin{labid}

    • Password: Pa$$w0rd

  2. In the upper-right corner of the console, click the drop-down menu with your administrator name and verify that Student{labid} organization group is selected from the Organization Group drop-down menu.

  3. In the navigation pane at the top, select Groups & Settings. Then, in the navigation on the left, select Configurations. The Configurations page appears. 

If you see a Welcome screen, click Go to Configuration.

  1. Enter Intelligent Hub in the Configurations search box.

  2. Select Intelligent Hub from the search results.

  3. Click the Intelligent Hub hyperlink.

The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub configuration page opens.

  1. Click Get Started.

The Activate Hub Services dialog box appears.

  1. Enter your Workspace ONE Access tenant details.

  • Tenant URL: https://{labid}.us0.wss.workspaceone.com

  • Leave Client ID and Secret blank for now. You will return to fill in those fields after the next steps.

  1. Leave the Workspace ONE UEM admin console open. In a new tab of the browser go to the Omnissa Access Admin console.

  1. Sign in with your credentials

  • User name: admin

  • Password: Pa$$w0rd

  1. In the Omnissa Access admin console, navigate to Settings and select OAuth 2.0 Management. Then, select the UEM tab.

  2. Click Generate Client.

  • Client ID = studentadmin

  • UEM Server URL = https://omnissatraining.awmdm.com

  1. Click Generate Client.

  2. Copy both the Client ID and Shared Secret into a notepad.

  3. Navigate back to the browser tab where Workspace ONE UEM Intelligent Hub configuration is open.

  4. Paste the Client ID and Secret into the Activate Hub Services window.

  5. Click Test Connection. You should see a "Test connection successful" message.

  6. Click SAVE.

You are redirected to the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub configuration page with the settings configured.

Task 6: Configure a Hub Services setting

You configure custom notifications using Hub Services.

  1. On the Intelligent Hub Configurations page, scroll down and click Launch to open the Hub Services settings.

NOTE: If you get HTTP Error page open a new tab and type https://{labid}.us0.wss.workspaceone.com/hubconsole/admin-console.

The Getting started with Hub Services page appears.

  1. Scroll down and click Begin.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, select Notifications & Banners.

  3. Click Get Started and select New and select Create Notification.

  4. Configure the Custom Notification Definition settings.

    1. Enter Techzone in the Name text box.

    2. Verify that Organization Groups is selected in the Target Audience Type drop-down menu.

    3. Next to Organization Group, enter Student{labid} in the search box and select Student{labid} from search result.

  5. Under Priority, select Standard.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Configure the Content settings.

    1. Enter Become familiar with Omnissa TechZone in the Title text box.

    2. Enter Providing employees a link to Omnissa TechZone for all Workspace ONE learning needs in the Description text box.

    3. Scroll down to Actions and enter Click Here in the Action Button Text text box.

    4. From the Action Button Behavior drop-down menu, select Open In.

    5. Enter https://techzone.omnissa.com in the Link text box.

    6. Turn on the Make Action Repeatable toggle.

  8. Click Next and click Next again, then click Publish.

Wait for the services to configure.

The Status column on the Notifications page shows "Error" because no device has been enrolled yet.

  1. In the navigation pane on the left, select App Catalog, and then click on Configuration.

  2. Under Platforms, verify that the Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows toggles are turned on.

  3. To return to the Workspace ONE UEM console, click your username in the upper right corner and select Log Out.
