Lab 7: Enrollment

Objective and Tasks

Enroll Windows and Linux endpoints, and verify the enrollments:

  1. Enroll a Windows Device
  2. Enroll an iOS Device
  3. Verify the Assignment Group
  4. Navigate the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub Application on Windows Device

Task 1: Enroll a Windows Device

You use the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application to enroll a Windows VM to your Workspace ONE UEM environment.

  1. Log in to the ControlCenter VM.
    • User name: administrator
    • Password: Pa$$w0rd
  2. Open Remote Desktops folder on the desktop and double-click Win11Client-01a.RDP
  3. If you receive a prompt to log in to, enter the password for the local  account.
    • User name: techseals\craig
    • Password: Pa$$w0rd
  4. If a Get even more out of Windows dialog box appears, click Skip for now.
  5. From the Win11Client-01a VM desktop, open Chrome.
  6. Go to https://getwsone.com and click Download Hub for Windows x86/64.
  7. After 2 minutes, you should find the AirwatchAgent in the Downloads folder of File Explorer in the Win11Client-01a VM.
  8. Double-click AirwatchAgent to start the installation.
  9. Complete the steps in the setup wizard to install Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub to the W11Client-01a VM.
    • The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application starts automatically after installation is complete.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  12. Click Install.
  13. When Prompted for username and password type administrator and Pa$$w0rd click Yes
  14. Click Finish.
    • After the installation is complete, the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application will automatically open in 3 minutes.
    • When it opens, you should see the app in the Windows Taskbar
    • If it does not open, you can click the W11Client-01a Start menu to open Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub manually.
  15. Enter your Workspace ONE UEM enrollment information in the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application.
  16. Enter techseals.awmdm.com in the Email or Server Address text box.
  17. Click Next.
  18. Enter student{labid} in the Group ID text box.
  19. Click Next.
  20. Enter craig in the username text box.
  21. Enter Pa$$w0rd in the password text box.
  22. Click Sign In.
  23. In the Terms and Conditions dialog box, click Agree.
  24. If a Want an even better experience? message appears, click Not Now.
  25. When the Congratulations dialog box appears, click Done.
  26. To complete enrollment, click Get Started.
  27. On the ControlCenter Windows taskbar, click the Google Chrome icon to return to the Workspace ONE UEM console.
  28. In the navigation pane on the left, select DEVICES > Devices. The Craig Desktop Windows VM should appear in the list.

Task 2: Enroll an iOS Device

In this task, you use these general steps, to enroll an iOS device, directly through the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application.  We do not provide an iOS device, but if you have an iOS device that you would like to practice enrolling, feel free to do so.  BUT be careful about potential changes that can affect your device.

  1. Make sure your iOS device is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data.
  2. Download the Intelligent Hub app, by going to the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Open the Intelligent Hub app.
  4. Enter techseals.awmdm.com in the "Email Address or Server" section.  Tap Next.
  5. Enter student{labid} in the Group ID section.  Tap Next.
  6. Enter craig in the username section.
  7. Enter Pa$$w0rd in the password section.
  8. Tap Next.
  9. Tap "Not Now", if you get a "Save Password?" prompt.
  10. Tap Accept, if you get a Terms and Conditions window.
  11. Tap Continue on the We value Data Privacy.
  12. Tap Download profile on the Set up your profile window.
  13. Tap Allow for This website is trying to download a configuration profile.  Do you want to allow this? window.
  14. Tap Close for Profile Downloaded window.
  15. Tap Tap here when download finishes button.
  16. Tap Install profile.
  17. On your iOS device, Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > Workspace Services
  18. Tap Install next to Install Profile
  19. Enter your device passcode if prompted.
  20. Tap Install, for the Install Profile prompt.
  21. Tap Install, for the Warning prompt.  The app will prompt you to install a Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile.
  22. Tap Trust, for the Remote Management prompt.
  23. Tap Done on the Profile Installed window.
  24. Go back to the Intelligent Hub app window, and tap Take me to Hub.
  25. If prompted, create a 4-digit passcode.  It has to be a minimum of 4 numbers.  Tap Next.
  26. Repeat the passcode.  Tap Confirm.
  27. Tap Skip at the Always accessible window, OR swipe to the end, and tap Got it.
  28. Tap I Understand at the Privacy window.
  29. Tap I Agree at the Data Sharing window to complete enrollment.
  30. You should now be in the Intelligent Hub app window, where you see different tabs of icons at the bottom of the screen:  Favorites, Apps, For You, and Support.  You will also see, at the top-right of the window, a CS icon (it's the initials of your Craig user).  You can click on any of the icons to see their information.
  31. On the ControlCenter Windows taskbar, click the Google Chrome icon to return to the Workspace ONE UEM console.
  32. In the navigation pane on the left, select DEVICES > Devices. The Craig...iOS... device should appear in the list.

Task 3: Verify the Assignment Group

You verify that the enrolled devices are automatically included in the correct assignment groups.

  1. On the Workspace ONE UEM console menu bar, verify that Student{labid} is selected in the Organization Group drop-down menu.
  2. In the navigation plane on the left, select GROUPS & SETTINGS > under Groups heading > Assignment Groups.
  3. Verify that a number appears in the Devices column for the respective Smart Groups.

Task 4: Navigate the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub Application on Windows Device

You navigate the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application and become familiar with the Hub Catalog user interface on enrolled Windows device.

  1. On the ControlCenter desktop double-click the Remote Desktop  folder and  open the W11Client-01a.RDP VM.
  2. On the W11Client-01a VM desktop, click the Start menu and open Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub.
  3. You maybe requested to sign in again into the Intelligent Hub
    1. Ensure that techseals.co is selected from the Select your domain drop-down menu.
    2. Click Next.
    3. Enter craig in the username text box.
    4. Enter Pa$$w0rd in the password text box.

Either the Apps or the Favorites page appears when the application opens.

No assigned applications appear yet because you have not deployed resources to any devices. This is covered in a later lab.

  1. If the Always Accessible window appears, click Got It.
  2. In the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application, review the available menu options.
    • Favorites
    • Apps
    • For You
    • Support
    • User icon
  3. To open the device information page, click Craig Stroser in the bottom-left corner.
    • Here you can view information about Enrollment, Compliance, Network, Profile, and Support.
  4. To synchronize with the Workspace ONE UEM console, click Sync Device.
NOTE
The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub application performs periodic automatic background syncs with the Workspace ONE UEM console.
The Sync Device control serves as a manual approach to trigger an immediate one-time sync with the Workspace ONE UEM console.
  1. Minimize the Remote Desktop Connection window.
