14. Deploying Configuring and Managing Published Applications

As a minimum requirement, you must complete Lab 2 before staring this lab.

Introduction to this lab
  • In this setup Remote Desktop Licensing services has already been deployed and associated Group policy licensing configuration has been completed.
  • On the base master image  the following steps have already been completed as per the guidance on TechZone.
  • The base master image is already been put in Audit Mode

Multiple steps are required to prepare the Master Image

  • Our Master Image already has the Omnissa tools installed
  • We will run the following tasks:
    1. Install RDS Host services
    2. Deploy the Horizon Agent
    3. Deploy the Dynamic Environment Manager FlexEngine
    4. We will run the OS Optimization tools
    5. Deploy the App Volumes Agent

To start off this Lab

  1. On the ControlCenter server
    • from the desktop,
      • launch your Site 1- Bangalore browser
    • in the browsers Favourites bar
      • select the vcenter-01a shortcut
  1. In the VMware vSphere login page
    • in the username area
    • in the password area
      • enter Pa$$w0rd
    • select LOGIN
  1. In the vSphere Admin Console
    • under Hosts & Clusters
      • select Bangalore,
    • expand your inventory
      • select RDS-Master and right-click
        • from the pop-up
          • select Power > Power On
  1. In the vSphere Admin Console
    • to the right, note you are view the RDS-Master details
      • select the Summary tab
    • in the Summary area
      • select LAUNCH WEB CONSOLE
Part 1. Setting and configuring the Master Image
Task 1. Deploying RDS Host Services

Task 2. Installing the Horizon Agent

    • browse to Horizon > 2412
      • select and right-click the Horizon-Agent-x86_64-2414-8.14.0-x
        • select Open

    • Welcome to the Installation Wizard for the Omnissa Horizon Agent
      • select Next

    • In the address bar
      • enter your assigned Omnissa Access URL
  1. In the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub
    • below Select your Domain
      • ensure System Domain is selected
      • select Next
  1. In the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub login window
    • In the Username area
      • enter administrator
    • in the Password area
      • enter Pa$$w0rd
        • select Sign in
  1. In the Web Intelligent Hub
    • top-right corner
      • select the AT icon
    • from the dropdown
      • select Access Console
Section 2. Performing a Virtual Apps sync in Omnissa Access
  1. In the Workspace ONE Access console
    • select the Resources tab
      • In the Resources list
        • select Virtual Apps Collections
  1. In the Virtual Apps Collections area

      • select the radiobutton
    • next to SYNC
      • select the dropdown

Part 5: Testing RDS published applications
  1. On your ControlCenter server,
    • switch to your   W11Client-01a.RDP Remote Desktops session

The w11Client-01a session should still be logged in with the techseals\craig account

  1. On your W11Client-01a desktop,
    • In the Web Intelligent Hub
      • Refresh your browser
        • notice you now have Published Application called Snipping Tool
      • under the New Apps area
        • double-click  Snipping Tool

 

  1. In the Open Omnissa Horizon Client? window
    • select Open Omnissa Horizon Client
  1. In  the W11Client-01a Horizon session
    • when done close your Snipping Tool window
  • you now have launched your first Horizon Published Application
