9. Testing your Horizon Infrastructure

This lab requires you to  complete all the labs starting from Lab no.  2 to Lab no. 7 before starting this lab.

  1. On your ControlCenter server
    • On the Desktop
      • Open the Remote Desktops Folder
        • open Site1
          • launch W11Client-01a.rdp

you should be automatically logged in as [email protected] with the password Pa$$w0rd

  1. On your  W11Client-01a
    • from the Desktop
      • launch the Horizon Client shortcut
    • on the Horizon Client,
      • select the Add Server Button
        • In the Name of the Connection Sever textbox,
          • enter
            • uag-hzn-avi01.techseals.co
              • select Connect
  1. In the Horizon Client textbox
    • in the Enter your user name area
      • enter craig
    • in the Enter your password area
      • enter Pa$$w0rd
        • select Login
  1. In the Horizon Client
    • double click the W11INST Pool
      • you will be presented with the desktop
  1. In the Horizon Client
    • from the Taskbar > Search area
      • enter Command
    • in the pop-up window
      • in the Command Prompt area
        • select Open
  1. In the Command Prompt window
    • enter hostname
    • with keyboard
      • select ENTER

Compare this with your Site 1 Instant Clone Desktops and see what their names are

  1. This validates our testing and configuration for Site 1
    • In the Horizon Client
      1. select the More Icon
      2. from the dropdown
        • select Logoff Desktop

  1. On your ControlCenter server
    • on the Desktop
      • open the Remote Desktops Folder
        • open Site 2
          • launch W11Client-02a.RDP
            • login as malcolm
              • In the password area
                • enter Pa$$w0rd
              • select OK to login
  1. In  W11Client-02a
    • Open Horizon Client from desktop
      • In the Horizon Client,
        • click on the Add Server Button
          • In the Name of the Connection Sever box,
            • enter
              • uag-hzn-avi02.techseals.co
                • select Connect
  1. In the Horizon Client textbox
    • in the Username area
      • enter malcolm
    • in the Password area
      • enter Pa$$w0rd
        • select login
  1. In the Horizon Client
    • double click the W11INST Pool
  1. In the Horizon Client
    • from the Taskbar > Search area
      • enter Command
    • in the pop-up window
      • in the Command Prompt area
        • select Open
  1. In the Command Prompt window
    • enter hostname
    • with keyboard
      • select ENTER

Note that your Site 2 Instant Clone Desktops starts with SEA. (Seattle for Site ) Feel free to login into vCenter to validate

  1. This validates our testing and configuration for Site 1
    • In the Horizon Client
      1. select the More Icon
      2. from the dropdown
        • select Logoff Desktop

Once the testing complete, this brings to the end of LTM configuration. Move to the next lab of GSLB configuration lab

  1. On your ControlCenter server,
    • switch to your   W11Client-01a.RDP Remote Desktops session

The w11Client-01a session should still be logged in with the techseals\craig account

Log out and disconnect completely

  1. On your W11Client-01a desktop,
    • launch the Omnissa Horizon Client

 

  1. On the Omnissa Horizon Client
    • select + Add Server
  1. In the Name of the Connection Server window
    • enter corp.techseals.co
      • select Connect
  1. In the Horizon login
    • in the user name area
      • enter craig
    • in the password area
      • enter Pa$$w0rd
    • select Login
  1. In the Horizon client
    • select the W11FullClone entitlement
  1. In the Horizon Client
    • from the Taskbar > Search area
      • enter Command
    • in the pop-up window
      • in the Command Prompt area
        • select Open
  1. In the Command Prompt window
    • enter hostname
    • with keyboard
      • select ENTER
  1. This validates our testing and configuration for Site 1
    • In the Horizon Client
      1. select the More Icon
      2. from the dropdown
        • select Logoff Desktop
Expand or collapse content Section 2. Testing Site 2 Global traffic management using an Instant clone Pool
  1. On your ControlCenter server,
    • switch to your   W11Client-02a.RDP Remote Desktops session

The w11Client-01a session should still be logged in with the techseals\craig account

Log out and disconnect completely

  1. On your W11Client-02a desktop,
    • launch the Omnissa Horizon Client

 

  1. On the Omnissa Horizon Client
    • select + Add Server
  1. In the Name of the Connection Server window
    • enter corp.techseals.co
      • select Connect
  1. In the Horizon login
    • in the user name area
      • enter malcolm
    • in the password area
      • enter Pa$$w0rd
    • select Login
  1. In the Horizon client
    • select the W11INST entitlement
  1. In the Horizon Client
    • from the Taskbar > Search area
      • enter Command
    • in the pop-up window
      • in the Command Prompt area
        • select Open
  1. In the Command Prompt window
    • enter hostname
    • with keyboard
      • select ENTER

Note that you have connected to a Site 2 virtual desktop

  1. This validates our testing and configuration for Site 2
    • In the Horizon Client
      1. select the More Icon
      2. from the dropdown
        • select Logoff Desktop
